While the U.S. Basketball Writers Association feels A.J. Price is an All-American, the Associated Press apparently feels otherwise.
The AP released its annual list of All-American selections Monday and the UConn point guard was not amongst the 15 players that comprised the three teams.
After averaging 14.5 points and 5.82 assists per game and leading the Huskies to seven more wins than a year ago and a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Price was named a member All-American Second Team and the District I Player of the Year by the USBWA less than two weeks ago.
The neglect from the AP voters adds to an already disappointing season’s end for Price. The junior, who missed his first two seasons at UConn, underwent surgery Friday to repair a torn ACL suffered in the Huskies’ 70-69 loss to San Diego in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The procedure was deemed a success by UConn officials and the projected recovery time is said to be around four to six months.
No seniors were selected to the first team, marking the first time since the AP began choosing players after the 1947-48 season.

If Kirk Gibson could hit a home run on two bad knees to win Game One of the World Series, and A.J. Price couldn’t be named all-American on one, what does that mean?
