A.J. Price underwent successful surgery Friday morning to repair damage to a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his left knee, according to the school’s athletic department.
The surgery, performed by Dr. Michael Joyce, lasted an hour and 20 minutes and took place at the Farmington Surgery Center at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute located on the grounds of the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington.
The damage turned out to be only limited to the ACL and was successfully repaired. Price will check out of the hospital later today.
The junior’s projected six-month rehabilitation will begin Saturday and is expected to continue through the summer.
Price, who missed his first two seasons at UConn, suffered the injury nine minutes into UConn’s 70-69 loss to San Diego March 21 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Tampa, Fla.
