A.J. Price will have surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee Friday morning at the Farmington Surgery Center at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute located on the grounds of the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington.
The rehabilitation process is expected to take up to six months following surgery, according to UConn Director of Sports Medicine Jeffrey Anderson.
Price suffered the injury nine minutes into UConn’s 70-68 loss to San Diego Friday, March 21, in the first round of the NCAA Championship in Tampa, Fla.
The junior, who missed his first two seasons at Storrs, finished the year leading the team in points (14.5) and assists (5.8) and was honored as a Second-Team All-America member by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Price is also considered a favorite to land a spot on the AP All-American team, which will be announced some time in the next few weeks.
