Football Fun

Hey all,

Your friendly neighborhood blogger here to introduce you to the latest addition to the DC blogging strike force — the football blog, or as I like to call it, the Randy Edsall Experience.

Speaking of the man, the myth and the legend, Edsall held a press conference in the defensive meeting room of the Burton Family Football Complex to go over some things, and things, heading into spring practices.

I hit all of the big points in Friday’s notebook, but for all of football fanatics who are crazy enough to search out a student newspaper’s blog that is not even attached to the Web site (cough, way to go, Porter), here’s some more info:

  • Walk-ons Matt Vollono (QB), Cody Brumbaugh (OL) and Mike Conroy  (WR) will no longer be with the team. According to Edsall, Vollono intends to transfer to another school to get more playing time than he has now, i.e. none, but didn’t make the decision quick enough to meet application deadlines. Conroy will be returning to baseball this semester. He told Edsall he has a chance of making a big league club but might end up with one of the independent leagues. He plans on returning next fall to finish his degree.

Injury Update

  • Freshman wide out Isiah Moore is “out there competin’,” according to Edsall, after injuring his shoulder last season.
  • Safety Aaron Bagsby, who sat out last season with a medical redshirt, is in the process of following up with specialists, and should be ready to get back to work soon.
  • Yianni Apostolakos is somewhat limited as of now, but he should be ready for spring practice.
