Internet problems have kept me from blogging throughout the game, but back with the most important update of the night — UConn and San Diego are headed into overtime.
Jerome Dyson made the two biggest free throws of his career with 10.4 seconds left to go to tie the game at 60. San Diego’s De’Jon Jackson drove the lane on the ensuing posession but his shot went awry, sending the game into extra frames.
The first half has just ended, and things aren’t looking too good for the Huskies, as they are down, 34-29, to No. 13 seed San Diego.
After A.J. Price went down early in the half with what is being called a sprained left knee, UConn has struggled to generate the offense to counter the sharp-shooting Toreros.
Despite a significant size advantage, the Huskies have been dominated in the post by Gyno Pomare. Standing just 6-foot-8, the forward has battled with Hasheem Thabeet all game and appears to be winning. He leads all scorers at the break with 14 points.
First Half Stats

UPDATE
During a timeout with 3:17 to play, Price returned to the bench area with an ice pack wrapped around his left knee. He is bending his knee, but with a warm-up jersey on and sitting at the end of the bench near the trainers, it doesn’t appear as though he will return to today’s game.
Update
Price has a sprained left knee, according to team officials. Depending on severity, Price could return Sunday if the Huskies advance to the second round or miss upwards of a week of action. According to MAdvice.com, even a mild sprain would take two-six weeks to properlly heal.
First Half
A.J. Price took a hard spill near under the basket near the baseline and lied there for a few minutes. Price was enventually had to be carried off the court on the shoulders of teammates, with his left thigh elevated.
Price was placed near the end of the bench and worked on by the training staff until he was able to limp off into the locker room with about eight minutes to play in the first half.
